My name is Doug. I'm a baby boomer. By that I mean I was born a few years after World War II. My twin brothers, Dwight and George are two years older than me. Yes, we were named after famous WW2 American generals. My father was a veteran and as soon as he got home when the war ended, he married mom and they didn't waste any time having kids.

My brothers were excellent athletes and although my teachers always compared me to them, I had no athletic ability at all. I'd rather play the piano or read a book.

Not only that, compared to them I was small. They made sure that I wasn't harassed too badly at school, but at home they called me ‘runt,' and mercilessly picked on me.

When we became adults, I got even with my brothers for all their bullying. Dwight worked for the town; he was called a garbage man back then. George worked the midnight shift in a factory. Me? I went to law school. I joined a law firm in town, mostly handling residential and commercial real estate transactions.

In school my favorite teacher was my sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. Donaldson. I had a crush on her. I thought she was beautiful. Of course, I was twelve, just starting puberty and Mrs. Donaldson was married and I guess she was about thirty, which I thought was very old.
