High school graduation was supposed to be a great reason to party and celebrate but that wasn't the case for Wendy. She had just turned 18 a few weeks ago and her step mother had presented her with the worst possible birthday gift.

"As soon as you graduate you need to find somewhere else to live" she said.

"Where am I supposed to live?" Wendy asked, "What am I supposed to do?'

"Frankly dear I don't give a shit. You've been nothing but a burden to me ever since your father died so I decided that enough is enough." she said, "I am being gracious enough to at least let you stay until you get your diploma so that you can at least get a job flipping burgers or something"

So Wendy already knew that the clock was ticking and today, despite the pomp and circumstance of a major milestone in her young life, she was quite depressed. She had tried in vain to find any time of employment she could but because she had no previous work history no one was willing to give her a chance.

She sat there at a park bench not far from her soon to be former home and sulked. She was shy and a bit quiet so she slipped under the radar through most of high school. She had a new friends here and there but ...
