A two lane asphalt road climbed steadily toward distant green hills. We had left the city far behind and were surrounded by open rolling lush pasture. It was simply gorgeous. Small dips in the pavement that matched the deeper gullies in the pasture on either side of the road gave us the pit of the stomach zero gravity moment as we dropped in and then climbed back out. I was driving quickly enough that we got a little whoop de doo each time. After dip number five Julie looked over with her complete disdain face on.

"Do you have to do that? I'm trying to text here and you are making it impossible! Slow down already!"

So I let off the gas enough to drop us a few mph closer to the speed limit, and the cars in the mirror began to stack up behind us. It was Saturday morning, the spring weather was fabulous, and everybody was in a hurry to get up to the mountains. Nobody wanted to follow at my prudent pace. Every time the view ahead allowed, one or two cars would pass, honking horns in anger as they drew alongside. Then they would accelerate into the distance and disappear.
