BOYSCOUT and JOHN SOLO INTERVIEW

We know him as Boyscout today, but when this week's interviewee first appeared in the ES universe, back in the first months of the century, he wrote under the name of John Solo. "It was a FF/First Time story back on August 24 2000," he recalls. "Seems like a lifetime ago." Since then, he has published eighteen stories, although there was a lengthy hiatus in the midst of that period, so it's good news for all his fans to learn that "I am ready to get back in the saddle again." So, who are Boyscout and John Solo?

I'm a single father and I live in a small mountain town (no, not Southpark). I'm just your average guy really.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

I started writing erotic stories in the mid 90s, when I used to work as a security guard on the graveyard shift. I would get ideas about scenarios from previous experiences and how I could have improved them if I could go back in time, but since I couldn't do that, I did the next best thing and started writing about the improved version.

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

No. Although I have read stories on other sites that seem to have an "Anything goes" policy, I always felt more comfortable here at EC.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

I think the most enjoyment I get, especially with my recent stories, is my ability to tap into my real life experiences and use it as a basis for what I write. Of course I change a few things here and there but there is a surprising amount of truth in my stories. I've always been a writer at heart and enjoy telling stories, so this gives me a great opportunity to share them with a wide audience.

Q. What is your favorite category to write in, and why?

As you can see in my earliest work, I used to write about FF stories almost exclusively. But my most recent work involves more bisexual and adultery themed stories.

Q. How much of yourself do you include in your stories?

Most of my stories include myself. It is much easier to write from my point of view.

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

In "Helping out a friend in need," I dress as a woman to help a friend out of a jam and was so convincing I managed to seduce a couple of men. It's something that has recently interested me, although I don't think I could ever actually go through with it except maybe for Halloween.

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

I have one friend that has read my erotic stories and encouraged me to get back to publishing my stories. She is my biggest fan and always gets to read my stories prior to submission, so I can get her opinion.

Q. What, if any, difficulties do you face when writing - erotic writing difficulties and general writing difficulties? And how do you overcome them?

I don't like repeating things that happen in a story, so I try to make sure that every time a sex scene comes up it is different, even if it is only minor changes. I overcome them by reading the entire story and seeing if its becoming too repetitive, and change it if it is.

Q. How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

Well, some may see what we are doing here as pornography and there certainly are a few stories that tend to focus on just sex but the majority of stories on here are erotic fiction. There is a difference to those of us intelligent enough to see it but sadly when most people hear the term "erotic" they think its all cocks and pussies and fucking etc, when in reality a good erotic story is actually just that. A story that has a plot and a tasteful amount of sex in the right places.

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

I haven't had many comments or emails regarding my work, but the few I have received so far have been great, and the favorite topic seems to be how they really enjoyed how descriptive my stories are and how the feel like they are watching it unfold before them as they read.

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

I haven't received anything negative yet, but I know it is only a matter of time and I can either let it hinder my work or take it as constructive criticism and learn from it. It's all about making lemonade from lemons.

Q. What kind of stories would you never write?

I don't think I could ever write anything too fantasy related such as vampires or aliens and such things. I also don't think I could write anything I don't really have any experience with.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

I do enjoy reading other stories on this site, and do sometimes contact the author when I feel the story is particularly good.

Q. Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

The first "real" pornography I ever saw was documented in my story "Sugar Daddy". The situation was real and I recall watching some lesbian pornography at the adult bookstore.

Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

The kinkiest would have to be dressing up in a skirt and top and posing for some pictures.

Q. Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?

I would like to dress up in that skirt and top and have some fun with a married guy that has never been with another guy before. I would also love to have it documented like pictures or video.

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

I have an unusual turn on that anyone who has read my stories can spot the pattern. I have a serious leg fetish and enjoy kissing, licking, sucking and nibbling all over a nice pair of legs and especially love having someone to that do me as well.

Q. How about a major turn off?

Body hair. I have been with some gals that have more hair on their arms than I do and it grosses me out. We live in an age of multiple hair removal options so there really is no excuse.

Q. How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

I feel that sex is a wonderful experience and it is meant for the mutual enjoyment of all involved. The more open minded a person is, the better a lover they will be.

Q. Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

Always a positive. There is too much negativity in real life so I avoid it in my stories.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

Once I get an idea into my head I simply start writing and continue going. I have the type of imagination that, once you tap into it, you keep the flow going until it dries up. The hard part is knowing where to end.

Q. What do you think is the best story you have published here?

The best is yet to come.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

All I want to say is that I appreciate all comments and feedback for what I write, and especially suggestions or even ideas on what direction my next story should go.

Q. Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

I don't have a website or blog just yet, but I won't rule it out in the future. If someone wants to learn more about me just shoot me an email. I always like to meet new people!

Please read Boyscout's stories and John Solo's stories!
