LADY GREY INTERVIEW

Lady Grey - you were last interviewed back in October 2006. Can you catch us up on what you have been doing since then? Tell us about any favorite new stories, anything else you have published, anything else you'd like to talk about.

Working hard, is my answer and recovering from the accident that I had in late November 2008. It was very serious and it set me back a long way. I took many months to fully recover. I have been doing a lot of writing trying to keep my output up and trying to improve. I now have three books out of which I am very proud, and I must thank Ray Westy the wonderful guy who as helped me so much by proof reading all my work. I have also reached the dizzying heights of being the favourite author of over 2000 readers, something I still can't believe. All my stories are my favourites; its just that some are better than others.

Q: You answered a lot of these questions in your last interview, but for people who've not read it... or in case any of your thoughts on the subject have changed, I'd like to ask a few of them again. Beginning with, who is Lady Grey?

Lady Grey is of course my nom-de-plume and something I came up with when I was asked by ES to pick a name for myself. I just happened to have made myself a cup of Lady Grey tea at the time. Lady Grey is also Laura Grant's fantasy figure - she is the one who has lived out the erotic life that I love writing about.

Q: Do you write other kinds of stories... ie - non erotic? If "yes", please tell us about them; if "no" please explain why not.

I do now write some non erotic pieces. I am in the process of writing a novel that is a police thriller. I have written two short plays for our local drama group and I do some writing for a travel magazine.

Q: What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

With erotic writing, I can live out my most intimate fantasies.

Q: Do you write from experience or fantasy? Or maybe a combination of the two?

The combination of the two. I do use a lot of my life's experiences in my stories, I have led a very interesting and sexually active life. Always willing to try out new experiences. Over here, we say "Don't knock it until you've tried it." and that been my life plan.

Q: Is there anything you have written into a story that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

Yes my ultimate fantasy, the one that I remember from so long ago, about being strip searched by Police, Customs, Border Guards, take your pick. I was a teenager when I saw the film "Carve her name with pride," about Odett, the female secret agent in the war, who was captured by the Germans in 1942 France and brutally tortured. I remember her standing in front of three German officers and being ordered to strip naked. I never got that scene out of my mind. Sadly, although I have tried to look furtive when going through customs, I have never been stopped and searched.

Q: Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

My current partner has no idea, which is quite funny because he thinks I'm straight laced, and often won't show me text messages because he says they are too rude for me to see. If he only knew! Some of my friends do know, and they think it's fun; most of them love to read my stories and we often share ideas and fantasies.

Q: How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

I feel that the people who read it for the most part enjoy it. I sometimes get letters complaining about something what I have written but I usually reply to them saying it's like film or TV. You don't have to read it, you can switch it off. I think erotic writing gives a lot of people a lot of pleasure. I get many letters from couples who say that reading my work has put more pleasure into their relationship, so it seem that it does some good, as well as give pleasure.

Q: That's quite a picture you have posted in your ES profile. Tell us about it.

It's one of many that I have posted. Before my husband and I split up, one of his greatest pleasures was to take pictures of me either naked or semi naked. We spent a lot of our time in Spain at our family villa, and out there things are more relaxed as far as nudity on the beach is concerned. I have hundreds of pictures and I am proud to show my body and I change my profile picture quite often, and I get many compliments about them.

Q: One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Without naming names, do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

As I do a lot of writing about Slut Wives or Exhibitionism, I get a lot of questions about these subjects, especially from women who want to try out the experiences and ask me for advice about how to go about it.

Q: How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

Depends on the reason, I love feedback in any form as long as it is constructive. but some readers don't know what they are talking about, or don't for some reason like a subject I have written about. I try to write different stories all the time. I'm always trying out new ideas, some don't work and some do. I always set out what the story entails in the blog before the title, so I can't understand when I get mail from people who say it's bad, because they don't like the subject. What I say is, if you don't like BDSM why read it?

I hate Anal, won't indulge, have experienced it once a long time ago, it was painful and I think its unnecessary. That's my opinion. I know people who enjoy it. I can never understand that a guy would want to stick his dick up your bottom when you have got the perfect place for it, but that's down to taste. So I say I don't want to read about it, but I don't read it and then pan the author. It's a free world (well, almost); you can read and write what you want.

And yes, I do get annoyed when readers make negative comments about things like this and I have even complained to Art about it on more than one occasion. I like the Literotica idea (if I can mention that word on here) where you can delete negative comments.

Q: What categories do most of your stories appear in - and is there a particular reason for this?

I tend to try and write what I have discovered my readers like. Slut Wives and Exhibitionist stories seem to be the top ones. Humiliation is also big with them. I also like reading and writing this type of story.

Q: And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

I do read a lot of the work on the site, and I do respond to authors either commenting on the story or sometimes putting forward ideas. I get a lot of requests to read author's work and help them do better. I don't particularly have any favorite authors; I like a lot of them.

Q: Have you ever been filmed or photographed having sex? Tell us about that.

Yes but that was actually lesbian sex, and it was filmed by my first partner when I was living in Spain. He talked me into these sex sessions with other women he met in our bar. I am bisexual and quite enjoyed it, but it was strange seeing myself on screen. You are not at your best while indulging in sex.

Q: Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw? Tell us about it?

I had seen books while I was at school, but my first real pornography was seeing a live sex show while I was over in Sweden with my husband on a business trip. We were taken to this sex club in Gotenburg by the company we were visiting. When he told me where we were going, I was quite excited and a little shocked, but it was an interesting experience. The couples who performed were young students, (Or so I was told by the organiser) who did it to pay their way through college. Mostly they were very attractive couples, late teens and early twenties. I remember it made me so hot I couldn't wait to get back to our hotel.

Q: What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

Had full sex on a dance floor at a night club in Ibiza

Q: Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?

Only the one I explained earlier, but I'm getting older and I don't think it will ever happen now.

Q: What is a major turn on for you during sex?

Foreplay. I think it's most important, unlike many of the male writers on ES who don't think it exists.

Q: How about a major turn off?

Smelly men and socks and men who tuck their shirts into their underwear.

Q: Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

No I guess I don't. I write erotic fantasies so I leave out the negative side.

Q: How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

That's an interesting one. The answer is from around three hours for a 5,000 word story to around several months. Sometimes I get an idea and write a story straight off, in one sitting. Other times, I start writing and get hopelessly lost. I rewrite time and time again, but it never seems to go anywhere. Sometimes I scrap it, and sometimes I persist.

I have files of stories that I have started on and need finishing off, and I keep adding too them, sometimes just a paragraph, sometimes several pages. And sometimes I even finish them.

Q: You've published over 160 stories on the site. How do you keep yourself interested and inspired?

I have to admit it's getting harder. I feel sometimes as though I have run out of ideas, but I get lots of feedback from friends and fans about ideas and this helps. I also pick up ideas from news items and snippets from films and TV programs, and I have discovered a good new source in the confession mags you often find in the doctor's waiting room. Something I have discovered as I have been attending these places regularly, since my accident.

Q: You are far and away the most beloved author on ES. What do you think it is about your writing and your stories that has struck such a phenomenal chord with the readers?

I am told by many of my readers that I paint a picture. I set the scene, explain the details. They feel they are there, living the story. and I try to write Erotic stories. That's what the site is called. There are too many, what I call 'Wham bang thank you mam' writers. They have the woman stripped and sucking someone's dick in the first two paragraphs. This is porn writing, not erotic writing. Okay, so some people like that sort of thing, but I think it shows by my readership what ES readers really like.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

Yes, I would like to say thank you to all of them for their loyal support over the years. I was overwhelmed by the response I got when Ray informed Art about my accident, and I received literally dozens and dozens of get well messages. What brought tears to my eyes was the wording of the letters, from guys who had written to me about my stories and discussed them in lurid detail - suddenly they were saying things like "We are praying for you." I tried to thank all of them, but if you didn't get a thank you, I am saying it now. You are a great crowd out there all over the world. You made me what I am today. I know I am not a great writer, but I think I have given a lot of people a lot of pleasure, and it has given me such pleasure doing it, so once more, I thank you all.

I know I am going to get shot by Ray my proof reader because he's not seen this and I know there will be some spelling, typos and grammer mistakes in it. but please forgive me for them. It was spontaneous and from the heart.

Q: Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

I did have one and many of my readers enjoyed it, but because I did not update it regularly, it was taken off. I would love to have another one, so if there is someone out there who could help me I would be forever grateful. I just need the basics, something I can add to and update.

But in the meantime, anyone who wants to can mail me anytime. My personal e-mail is lauragrant99@yahoo.co.uk. I try to reply to everyone who asks a question, but I don't always get around to answering comments. Again I love you all.
