MIKE INTERVIEW

Mike published his first story here in March 2005 - and he seems to be a very slow worker; since then, he has published just ten tales, scattered across a variety of categories, but with a definite emphasis on breaking taboos - group sex, slut wives and toys seem to be some of his favorite themes. Tell us more about that, please!

OK, I get up fairly early every morning and check my email, do any business that I need to do online, and then check a couple of my favorite 'entertainment' websites. When I don't find anything that particularly interests me, I write something myself. And, sometimes I just have a thought, desire, or fantasy that I want to explore. And, writing a short story is my way to daydream.

Q: Okay, who is Mike? Tell us a few things about you - name, age and so on.

My real name is Rich. I used Mike for me, and Jan for my wife, when I was writing those particular stories. And, those characters are pretty much 'us' with more experience.

I'm about to turn 62, been married for almost 38 years and we never had children so we never really had to grow up ourselves. She's a recently retired educator and I'm recently retired from a government job. We live in Florida and are just enjoying our retirement now. There are lots of fun things to do in central Florida.

Q: How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

Years ago my wife and I indulged in some swinging/type activities. All of those just happened, we were never in any sort of lifestyle, and as much as I totally enjoyed each and every episode, my wife just had trouble dealing with them afterward. So, we quit.

After we got a computer, and online, I discovered this site and enjoyed, 'vicariously', all the exciting things that I'd missed for so many years.

But, when my wife discovered my activities she panicked, thinking that I was going to insist we revisit those things that she now knew I'd missed so much. Well, we talked things out and agreed to disagree on that topic.

Then, to my complete surprise, she suggested that I write some similar stories. So, I created 'Mike and Jan' and wrote 'The Dance'. She loved it so much it encouraged me to continue with 'Ricardo' and then 'Especially For Yule'. I remember how much fun it was to write a story before she got up in the morning, then she'd read it and we'd discuss it while going for our early morning walk and get so turned on that we'd cut the walk short and hurry back home to get back in bed. Those were some fun mornings!

We met, 'online', some nice folks through the feedback and even actually met one couple in person. No, nothing sexual happened in person but I was euphoric with the possibilities. Anyway, my wife had a sort of relapse when we actually met the couple and drew back into her protective shell. So, the later stories are mostly me alone. She knows that I still write erotica, and that I do post some, but I don't think she's really interested in reading them anymore.

Q: Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

I have some PG-13 and other stories on the Nicestories site that Ed has. I also have some non-erotic stories on another website. I've written three YA (young adult) novels and two have been published. I wrote a weekly series of short stories for a Colorado Swingers Magazine years ago and, like most writers, have had numerous other short works published in various other ways.

Q: I'm sure readers have their own vision of what you look like, and who you are - how much of yourself do you include in your stories?

Quite a bit I think. I don't think I've ever written anything that I wouldn't actually do or haven't done. I'm, in my opinion, a very caring, considerate, and generous person. I try to never hurt anyone and love it when I can give someone pleasure. My wife has accused me of making swinging sound much 'sweeter' than it really is through my stories.

Q: What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

Experiencing the fantasies myself. I type about as fast as I read. Believe or not, I don't have any trouble thinking of the idea and then just writing it. It took me about an hour to write each of my stories here, well the last two were very short and it didn't take nearly that long. My one downside is that I don't go back and edit these. I have to apologize to the readers for that.

And, of course, I love the feedback. I've made good friends, through that feedback over the years, and cherish them.

Q: Do you write from experience or fantasy? Or maybe a combination of the two?

Definitely a combination of the two.

Q: Is there anything you have written into a story that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

As far as physical acts, there's really nothing I ever wanted to try that I haven't. But, having my loving wife wanting to explore these things with me, as I suggest in the stories, is what I'd absolutely love!

Q: Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

My wife and several of my friends, (even vanilla ones), know I write some erotica. All of my friends and relatives know that I'm a writer in other genres.

Q: How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

You know, the outside world seems to be getting much more open-minded. I believe that the attempt in recent years to close minds has actually had the opposite effect.

There is really a narrowing line between romance and porn and good erotica is the outcome, don't you think?

And, for me personally, I really don't care if people who know me find out that I write erotica because, if they really know and like me, it shouldn't come as a surprise. One of my favorite sayings is on a tile that I have hanging in our courtyard. We got it years ago in New Orleans. It says, "A friend is one who sees through your act, yet still enjoys the show."

Q: Tell us about the photograph you have posted in your ES profile.

Those are military Master Parachute Wings. I spent seven years ('66 to '73) in the USAF and in Combat Control, a special outfit that provided air traffic control where there were no facilities. Google it if you'd like more info. J

Q: One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

Yes, of course. I have met several guys who shared military experiences. In fact, one just this morning. And, of course, spouses who would love for their spouse to be more adventurous as well. And, surprisingly, not just the husbands either. But mostly the folks who just enjoy reading a good erotic story.

Q: How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

It doesn't really bother me. I write these for fun and pleasure and hope they'll give others the same. And, I suspect that the negative comments and votes, (which are usually anonymous), are just jealous people who wish they could write. It sometimes makes me smile and think of an old joke. (A guy is undressing in the company of a young lady for the first time and when he drops his underwear she looks and sees that he's not very well equipped. She gives him a concerned look, points her finger at his groin, and says, "Who do you plan on pleasing with that?" The young, confident, guy doesn't hesitate and simply replies, "Me"!)

Q: And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

Absolutely! If I mention a few I might overlook someone so I won't. And, btw, I never vote less than 10. I was always taught if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all.

Q: Have you ever been filmed or photographed having sex?

My wife and I have our personal collection, of course. And, we did take some very explicit photos to share with the couple we met through this site. But never anything for public dissemination.

Q: Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

Well, I guess it'd have to be Playboy but I don't think that's even considered pornography anymore.

Q: What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

Wow! Now that's thought provoking! I guess it was a time that my wife and I were at the beach with her whole family. Parents, aunts, uncles..., everyone. We were in the water up to our chests, just feet from her family, and I slid the bottoms of her suit to the side and we actually fucked right there near them all! I still can't believe she went along with that. But then, I remember one time I was talking to my mother on the phone and my wife came over and gave me a blowjob while I was talking.

Q: Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?

My most frequent fantasy is that my wife will find some guy just too tempting to resist. And, that she'll admit it and agree to entertain the possibility of more adventures together.

Q: What is a major turn on for you during sex?

A woman getting wet. The wetter she gets the more turned on I get. I guess it's because I know she's as 'into it' as I am.

Q: How about a major turn off?

Bad hygiene. I love giving oral..., everywhere! Yes, I'm a rimmer too! LOL! So, hygiene is very important to me.

Q: How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

Now I've touched on bisexuality, both ways, in different stories and think it's just something that is worth trying, yes both ways!

So, I'm definitely not homophobic!

We have really close friends who are lesbians. And we've had gay friends as well. Why does it bother so many people who another person wants to spend their lives with? I really feel that most of us entertain some same-sex sexual thoughts and fantasies. But, I think most of us fall into one of 'three' different genders. Male, female, and homosexual. Yes, I think that there is an actual third gender that is created at the same stage of development that, in most cases, changes fetus from a female to a male.

Q: Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

I would hope that they are completely positive!

Q: How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

OK, I've already mentioned this but I'll do it again. I get up, check my vanilla stuff, and look at the two or three adult sites that I frequent. If I've had a thought or if I just feel like writing I'll check the time and see if I have a couple of hours before my wife will wake up. Then, I just start typing and read the story as my fingers type it. I know that most of you writers won't believe that but it's how I do it.

The only editing I really do is to, if I decide to post it, go back and double space between paragraphs. But, there have been hundreds of stories that I just enjoy writing and then delete. There was a time that I saved everything that I wrote but it just got to be too much.

Q: Right now, your most popular story is Especially For Yule, with an average vote of 9.14. Do you agree that this is your best? Why do you think it struck such a chord?

I agree that it was a really great story. But, honestly, I think some of my more recent ones are actually better written, if not better stories.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

I just hope that my stories have had positive affects on you. If you write, or want to write yourselves, then do it! It just takes practice!

Q: Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

I do but it says exactly who I am. Now I'm in no way, ashamed of these works but I do have YA books out there too and it might not be such a great idea to expose myself so publicly here.
