It is more than two years since DG Hear arrived at ES, with a rip-roaring adaptation of the song "El Paso." Since then, he has published more than 120 stories. You once described yourself to me as "old guy having a little fun." Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?
Well I am old and am turning 65 this month. I have never written a story till 2005 when I submitted one to Literotica.
Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?
I was reading stories and it seemed like the same old thing over and over again. So one day I said to myself, "Self, you can do as good as some of these stories you're writing" So I sat at the computer and started typing. I got rejected twice before any stories were excepted on Lit. It's been awhile since I had to use proper writing and grammer. haha.
Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?
As I mentioned I started on Literotica and then on Stories on line. Jake Rivers told me about this site and that's when I posted El Paso.
Q. I'm sure readers have their own vision of who you are - how much of yourself do you include in your stories?
Unless I say otherwise, my stories are fiction. I do use things in my past to base stories on. Also those of other people I know. I never use anyone's real names. Other times I write what comes into my head.
Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?
I like telling stories usually about real life situations. Even if they are made up. I want readers to feel my characters. They don't have to agree with them (and a lot of times they don't) but we aren't all made out of the same mold.
Q. Your stories appear in a wide variety of categories, but do you have a favorite?
I'm really not sure. Loving and cheating wives are a biggie. I like romance, but there has to be some turmoil to make it believable. Oh, they there is revenge. I do believe in revenge. Vigilante Justice seems to pop in my stories once in awhile.
Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?
Not really, getting kind of old for my fantasies. LOL
Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?
My wife knows, but won't read them. My kids are no longer kids, and they know I write them, but not where I post them or under what name.
Q. How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?
Mixed feelings, Everyone has the right to write what they want, but I do believe some go to far. The government has no place to tell us how to live our lives.
Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?
I am surprised that so many people tell me about their personal turmoils. My heart goes out to many of them.
Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?
Negative comments I understand. Not every story is for everyone. I do disagree with low ball voting. Because you disagree with the outcome doesn't mean it wasn't a well written story. I believe the majority of authors put their best into a story and deserve votes accordingly. If it just isn't your type of story, then just pass on it.
Q. What kind of stories would you never write?
Never say never, but the gay stories are not for me, neither are sex with animals. I try to write realistic stories that are somewhat believable.
Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?
I try to respond to all comments on ES if they're not anonymous. I don't read a lot of stories, so I don't have many favorites. Every now and then I might get on a reading kick. It also gives me new ideas for stories of my own.
Q. Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?
That's kind of funny. When I was a kid, porn was a lot milder. I remember my uncle having books hidden under his bed. Only took one at a time and always replaced it.
Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?
Not really sure, but I know I wouldn't be telling anyone about it.
Q. Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?
We all have fantasies but most are best left there. I think I'll leave it at that. Never know if someone, someday, might recognize me.
Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?
I guess I'm a pretty boring guy but honest person. My biggest kick is getting my partner aroused, whatever it might take to get her there.
Q. How about a major turn off?
Not into M&S, anal hurts my dick. LOL
Q. How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?
Not for me, don't usually read it and very rarely write about it, except if it fits into my story. As far as those who like it, more power to you. As far as two women go, if I can't be part of it, what's the joy in just watching it?
Q. Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?
Sometimes, but only if it fits what comes into my mind.
Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?
I get an idea in my head. I can write a story in a day, but I always need to get it edited. Of course some times I lose track of a story, especially the long ones, and have to wait till my thoughts come back to me. Could be months before I get back to it. It would take more space then alloted here to explain all of it.
Q. Right now, your most popular story is "Blue Eyes Crying," with an average vote of 9.76. Do you agree that this is your best story? And why do you think it struck such a chord?
I do love that story. It's very emotional and my emotions flow when I write a story. If I expect the reader to have tears, then I better. If I want the readers to like a character then I have to like them. Same with other emotions. I do have stories that I like equally as much as Blue eyes Crying. I could give you a list but as you stated I have 120 stories posted here.
Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...
I just want the readers to know I write for fun. When it stops being fun, I will quit. I do understand that not every story is for everyone. If you don't like my story, then please just pass on it. I also want to thank the readers of my stories for taking the time to read, comment and vote on my stories. I really do appreciate it.
Q. Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?
Sorry, no web pages or blogs. If you want to know anything about me, feel free to drop me a line. I do my best to answer any questions when asked. Also thank you for asking me to do the interview.
