THELADYCROFT INTERVIEW

One of the more distinctive and memorable writers on ES (I've certainly never forgotten the first time I read one of her stories), theladycroft has been publishing with us since July 2005. Her first ever story for us was "A Surprise for her husband," and she recalls, "someone once asked me about how I would go about seducing a woman, and what better way to describe it than writing a story?"

Since then, she has followed through with a dozen more, all concerning "the adventures of Jamie and Steve and the people they encounter. Someone is always trying to sleep with Jamie lol, and she is so naive she gets in trouble. Sometimes Steve has to punish her-and she sooo enjoys it! The last one was "The tale of the night before". I have started several more since then but all need to be finished."

So, to start things off, who is theladycroft?

Where do I begin? I am known as the energizer bunny. Writing is what I love to do most. I work full time as a Customer Relationship manager for an insurance company and I am a French teacher for children. When I am not working or teaching, I am baking. I make the most wonderful and delicious deserts. Oh and one last thing, I am sexy as hell.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

I used to read alot of stories and I always found they lacked something imagination or content and when they didn't lack this, the writing was not superb. So I decided to write one myself. The feedback I received was tremendous. I wrote another and another. The rest is history.

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

Yes. On Literotica.com. Also, two of my stories are published in national digests.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

I like that you don't have to hold back, you can describe everything and you can swear. lol

Q: What is your favorite category to write in, and why?

I do not have a preference. Mind control is a cool one as you can make someone do anything you want and it is not their fault. I find that cool.

Q. How much of yourself do you include in your stories?

Quite a bit. The heroine, Jamie, is based on me. Except for the fact that she is absolutely perfect lol. Her hair, her height, eye color, full lips, her naive nature. She is basically me, me me!

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

The reason I write the stories is because they are fantasies. Some far fetched but all my stories turn me on, so practically all of them. Many readers ask me to tell them my fantasies, my answer is always the same "read my stories" and you will know exactly what is in my head.

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

Everyone does. My partner thinks I am the greatest writer who ever lived but he has never read my stories. LOL My friends are my biggest fans, often asking me to write a story in which they are the heroines.

Q. What, if any, difficulties do you face when writing - erotic writing difficulties and general writing difficulties? And how do you overcome them?

I write as I play music. I usually select a song that inspires me but most of the time the stories in my head are screaming to be told, so I write them. The longest part of writing the story is editing it and making sure the English is at a superior level, if it does not satisfy that, I do not publish. I am my own worst critic.

Q. How about in more general terms ? how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

Writing is an art. It does not matter what you write about, if you have a gift, you should write whatever you want. If the world is not open to erotica, they are not open to very much and I feel sorry for those people as they are missing out.

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

I often meet great people and will sometimes incorporate those people as characters in my stories. Most are flattered by this. This is my way of showing them I have appreciated our exchanges.

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

If the comment is warranted, I am ok with it. I once received an email saying "I voted a 1 on your story but I did not read it." This was infuriating. How can you vote on something you have not read?

Q. What kind of stories would you never write?

I never say never. You just never know. That is the beauty of erotica. You never know where the story will take you.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

Sometimes I do. I like Jack Handee, he is a gifted writer and has a great imagination. I would like to collaborate with him on a story.

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

Everything. I love kissing-that is probably the sexiest thing and most personal. I like sex and everything that comes with it. The lust two people have for eachother, the foreplay. And sometimes a quicky can be the most satisfying.

Q. How about a major turn off?

Hygiene!!! I prefer if we are both showered beforehand lol I am a little anal about that.

Q: How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

If it feels right, that is all that matters. Everyone has a right to be with whom they choose.

Q. Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

Yes I do. In a surprise for her husband, Jamie is seduced into having sexual relations with another woman. She is hesitant at first but truly enjoys being eaten out by another woman for the first time even if Steven has to play with her feelings to get what he wants. In this story everyone gets off.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

It can take a few hours or several weeks. My stories have gotten longer and longer. Sometimes there are several stories rolled up into one. As I said I love to write and sometimes I do not want to stop.

Q. What do you think is the best story you have published here?

I believe it is Halloween party with the phantom. This story explores many topics. Mystery, exhibitionism, submission, mind control. Not because I am the writer but it is a great hot story and can still get me off when I read it as do most of my stories.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

I would like to thank all those who have sent feedback and have asked for more. They are the reason I write. I just finished writing a novel entitled "My father's Coven" which I hope to publish shortly. They are the reason I had the guts to do so.

Q. Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

I have a blog on my space. www.myspace.com/theladycroft

Please read TheLadyCroft's stories.
