Darius & the Silver Swan

Chapter 2

During her walk, Shae met a young man who bore a striking resemblance to Darius. He introduced himself as the duke's son, Anton. He was handsome, and also a bard. He told her that he would like for them to play together. If Darius had told her the same thing he would have left her blushing and stammering, but with Anton, even though he was flirtatious, she knew that it was music he was talking about. There was a strange kind of innocence about him; he was a sexual creature beyond a doubt, but somehow he seemed to have a child's naivete as well. They walked together, mildly flirted, and talked about music. Shae was completely comfortable with Anton (he was like the younger brother she never had). She found out that he had been raised by his mother, and her friends, far from Darius' castle. It was only recently that Anton had even met his father, or that Darius had become aware of his existence, and he had only been living with Darius for a few weeks. She also learned that he had been trained in the bardic arts by the famous Phoenix, whose reknown she secretly envied. They agreed that they would have much to learn from one another of their different styles and personal repertoires.

As their walk led them back to the castle, Darius spotted them from where he was reviewing his troops in the yard. Seeing them laughing ...
