"Tommy, get down here," Mom called up the stairway, "Paul is here and I have to leave right now." I stumbled down the stairs, still half asleep. Mom was in the hallway with her suitcases at the door. Her friend, Tina's brother, Paul, was standing there with his own suitcase, coming in to stay with me while mom took a long overdue two week vacation with Tina, one of her friends from work.

I stepped into the entry hall and gave her a long hug and kiss. "Go and have a ball, mom. We'll be just great here." Paul came over and gave me a tight hug. "God, you've gotten so much bigger since I saw you. I hardly recognize you." I laughed and flexed my muscles at him. "I'm pumping iron and gonna get even bigger. Watch out!" He roughed up my hair and laughed. "I'd like to see you pumping iron. I'm into that, too." "Good. We'll see how much weight you can pump after school," I responded.

We carried mom's luggage out to the car and watched her pull away. He put his hand over my shoulder as we walked back to the house. "We'll have a great time" He smiled softly. I felt so close to him. Paul was the youngest kid in his family and just over 20 years old. He was more like a big brother than a friend.

I hurried to the TV/exercise room over the garage as soon as I got home and slipped into shorts and a tank top. Paul was already there, doing curls. He was just in shorts, his chest bare, his muscles so tight. ...
