I hear someone clear their voice over the jazz band that is playing in the front of the club, I look up into her face and read her lips as she says down to me, "Why is it the same couple nights a week I see you in this cafe with either your laptop out or a pad of paper, the same drink, the usual windbreaker pants and t-shirts under that beaten gray fleece? I see numerous people come by and chitchat with you, and every time you smile, listen, and dismiss them. Why is that?"

I study the way her full lips form the words as she speaks with a sultry tone that catches my attention, I smile and respond, "They just come to see what I'm working on. I've seen you around to; you dismiss more people than I do. Maybe I should ask you the same questions?"

She smiles and takes a seat with me calling the waitress over and placing a drink order, "Yeah I come here almost the same times you do. I just wondered what kept bringing you to this particular club?"

I lean over the table closer to you, "Do you really want to know?"

She leaned closer to me, her scent rising to fill my nostrils as I spoke in my low rumble of a voice, "The live jazz music on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Other than that it's too smoky, a little too loud for my taste, to many people trying to pick me up, and the drinks are really watered down."
