If we'd expected to walk directly into some huge room hung all about with perfumed scarves, with 500 women arrayed on silk pillows, we were disappointed.

I guess what I was realistically expecting was a maze of corridors lined with numbered cabin doors, each with a lady or two behind it, and maybe a few adventurous women already out of their cabins exploring the ship or looking for the ladies' room to freshen up in. And surely some of them would still be in bed and would need help after being subjected to hours of acceleration. Even the guys still seemed a little stiff, and not in a good way. And we hadn't had those heavy mounds of flesh pressing down on our chests.

Instead, we found ourselves in a dimly lit room, filled with torpedo-shaped capsules a little larger than coffins. They had clear plastic lids, and control panels on the sides. They were stacked five high on racks all the way up to the ceiling. We were walking between two rows of them, and there were more rows beyond them.

"Why the hell did they put a cargo hold in between the crew and passenger compartments?" the skipper wondered aloud.

"Yeah, now we'll have to walk the whole fucking length of the ship every day," Harry complained.
