Dublin, Friday 26 February 1892

A Ride on the Train

Marie and Rosie walked along the quay in the crisp morning air before turning up to the train station. The sweet smell of toasting hops from the Guinness Brewery adding a pleasant tone to the background smells and sounds of the bustling city.

They had sent their bags on ahead to the station, along with Abigail and Kathleen in the Club's carriage, but it was such a beautiful morning that Marie and Rosie had decided to stroll the mile or so along the river.

"I think you are going to have a good time this weekend, Marie," Rosie announced. "The Cathcarts throw a fine party. Their last one was the talk of the Club for weeks."

"Well, to be honest, Rosie," Marie replied, "I am just glad to be getting out of the city for a couple of days. You know, I haven't been out of Dublin in a year. It will be a nice change to be up in the hills for a while and to get out in the country air."
