It was a very quiet town, boring as hell. I had spent almost my whole life there. There were a couple of bars and a cinema. That was pretty much it. There was really nothing to do. On Saturdays I would usually meet my friends, have a couple of beers, and occasionally watch a movie. I was very eager to go to college and experience what life in a big city was like. Here everybody knew each other. People would greet you on the streets. I just hated it.

One day a new family came into town. They moved into the house next to mine. The father was in the military and they had to move quiet a lot. They were very friendly people and did their best to fit in, which is no easy task in a place like this.

I wouldn't have paid any attention to them except for their daughter. Her name was Sarah. She was of the same age as me and strikingly beautiful. She was attending school in the same class as me and she was getting a lot of attention from the boys. But she seemed to ignore all the fuss about her and keep to herself. Even though we were neighbours, I never really spoke to her except for the usual small talk. She was very quiet, even somewhat distant.

There was only one conspicuous thing about her: almost every day, she would walk alone into the woods and return only hours later. At first I didn't really think much of it. Maybe she just liked hiking. But it seemed increasingly suspicious and after a while I became intrigued. ...
