My fiancé and I ride the Metro about an hour to and from work everyday. Its usually pretty crowded but it only takes a few more minutes than driving and we get to avoid the hassle of driving and fighting the traffic. We usually both read to pass the time and we get on at the last stop so we always get a seat. I had to work later than usual one night and since we drive to the Metro station together she said that she could find some work to do to keep her busy until I got off work. We met at the Metro station after work like usual and walked down to the train. After waiting a few minutes for the train, we walked to the last car of the Metro and got on. Even though we were only leaving about a half hour later than normal the Metro was practically empty. She sat down next to the window and I sat next to her. Ready for the trip home we both pulled out a book and started reading to pass the time.

After a few stops our car was empty except for ourselves and a couple people at the other end of the car. About halfway home my fiancé put her book away and placed her hand on my leg.

“What’s wrong?” I asked her.

“Nothing, I just don’t feel like reading anymore,” she replied.
