It's so strange, the way life can change all of a sudden. One moment you're sure you know who you are and what you're doing, the next everything is completely different. You never know what unexpected surprises are waiting around the next corner.

Once upon a time I was the shyest girl in school, dressing in dumpy clothes and hiding from the world. Thanks to my friends Courtney, Lana and Lily, all that changed after my first year of university. That story can be found under the title "Chloe's Question." I spent the rest of my university career learning from all three of them how beautiful life could be. Courtney and I lived together off campus for second and third year, in a lovely two bedroom apartment I could never have afforded myself. For awhile life seemed like a dream: all during the school year I had my loving friendship with Courtney, and in the summer I went home to Lily, with visits with Lana thrown into the mix all year long.

But after exams in third year I had to wake up. Courtney had graduated and was going home to the west coast, where she and Lana planned to open their own business. She invited me to come too, but I couldn't afford to pull up stakes and move, and part of me wasn't yet willing to live that far away from my parents. Besides, I had two years of school left, as I intended to get my honours and then go on to teachers' college.
