It was holiday time with the family. We were traveling back home in a car with 2 kids, and calling this a week of "vacation," with 16 hours of traveling one way... Family and friends to make demands on your time, so you have little chance of being alone together... Exciting to see everyone, but a little frustrated as well. That is what I remember thinking when we started out that afternoon after a full day of work for the both of us....

Fast food dinner, get kids in their pajamas and curled up with their pillows, blankets, cuddle pals and an audio tape from the library to entertain them, and it looked like things were pretty settled down... Dave and I took our turns driving, especially as the night wore on and we started getting tired. About half way there, we stopped for the night at a roadside hotel, looking only for a good bed, swimming pool, and breakfast in the morning....

The kids settled down in their beds rather quickly. Work and the drive had taken its toll on both of us, and it was time to wash up. As Dave crowded in behind me to brush our teeth in the small bathroom, I realized one or both of us were rather ripe. I let Dave in to the sink as I finished brushing, gave him a peck on his cheek, and took my shirt off. "Hey, what's up?" he asked. As I slipped out of my pants, I answered, "It has been such a long day, I need a shower before I go to bed." "Can I join you?" he asked. I was half expecting it.
