Being Seen or Heard

I started college a year after leaving high school because I needed to work for a year to build up my cash to afford college. I dated fairly often in high school and after I graduated. Mostly local guys I knew from town. I lost my virginity to my first serious boyfriend when I was a sophomore and he was about to graduate. In spite of his promise to love me forever, within a week of his starting college I got a dear Jane letter. I was crushed.
