I had just relocated my small business headquarters to California from the Midwest. I had developed a strong mail order business that could be run from anywhere and I was sick of long, cold winters. My marketing and fulfillment people were still in the Midwest, but I decided I could manage that by telephone and visiting from time to time. I had just recently been through an ugly divorce, so there was nothing to keep me there.
