Watching at Thirty Thousand Feet.

(As unlikely as it sounds, this is actually a true story. It's slightly embellished and some of it the products of my imagination, but most of the events are as accurate as memory serves. This is my first attempt at nonfiction, so please forgive me if it isn't as exciting or well fleshed out as my previous stories. As always, any and all feedback is appreciated, both positive and negative. I read everything that's sent to me and try to respond to everything that isn't anonymous.

The voice over the intercom woke Calvin from his dream, and he rubbed his eyes and stretched out his arms as he returned to consciousness. He checked his watch and saw that it was almost two hours past midnight, the time his flight had been scheduled to depart. He looked around the gate and noticed that most of the other passengers were just as groggy and annoyed as he was. He checked his bag to make sure he had everything, then stood up and walked toward the attendant who was collecting the tickets.

He handed his ticket to the gentlemen in the blue vest and matching tie, who ripped it and handed Cal back the stub. He checked his seating ...
