Danny pushed the door shut behind himself as he tossed the mail onto the hallway table. Glancing down the hall, he looked for any sign that Stacy was home. Passing from room to room, his hopes were dashed as she was nowhere to be found.

Settling onto the couch, he noticed the blinking light on the answering machine. Tentatively he pushed the play button. His breath caught in his throat when he recognized her voice.

"Hey there hun. I figured you'd be working late tonight, so a few girlfriends and I decided to grab a few drinks."

She paused while covering the handset while conferring with someone there. Returning with a giggle, her message continued.

"I'm not sure when we'll be done, but I'll grab a cab when it's over."

She screamed in surprise, and covered the handset again. Danny was able to make out what sounded like an argument ensuing.

"I told you that the... No, he'd never go... Just wait for me to..."

The rest of the conversation was unintelligible to him. Finally, she removed her hand from the receiver, and spoke in a low tone.
