Dance Teacher's Dilemma - Part II

It's not often I get flowers delivered to me, but on Tuesday morning following our tryst on Saturday, I received a bouquet from Leslie. The card read, "Thanks for your help over the weekend - with all of my troubles. I still owe you big time! Leslie."

Without telling Leslie that he would call me, John, her divorce lawyer, had called me that morning to tell me that Steve (Leslie's soon to be ex-husband) had confessed to diverting funds from the dance studio, not paying the IRS bills and even confessed to an additional affair with another of the dance instructors. Steve offered a quick settlement that included paying off all of the company's debt, signing over any claim of ownership of the dance studio, giving Leslie the house, car and contents, a tidy monthly maintenance amount for five years, paying all the lawyer's fees and a divorce within 30 days; all for not going to the District Attorney to press charges for embezzlement. They had him by the balls.

I called Leslie at the studio to thank her for the flowers and to let her tell me about the settlement. "Hey, I can't talk very long right now, but I have fantastic news to tell you. I get out of here early ...
