Two Scarves

He stands before me, arms out-stretched with a silk scarf in each hand.

"Choose," he says.

I giggle and walk towards his open arms, ready for a hug. Frowning he takes a step back.

"Choose."

His voice and face is serious, not to be trifled with. I'm used to him being shy or quiet I almost forgot that he could be strict, demanding. And yet I like it.

Not knowing what it means, I point to his left hand.

"That one," I say.

He follows my finger with his eyes. He smiles. A slow, lazy smile that grows into a beaming grin.
