Final Inspection

Gabe woke up that morning at his usual four am feeling better than he had in months. The new addition to the hospital had taken longer than he'd planned. With the constant changes in management, labor relations problems with the crew, and the crazy Southern California weather, they were almost three months behind schedule, but finally the building was ready for final inspection. Now he could relax.

Gabe was a rare find in city of emotional and financial baggage. His secure job in construction guaranteed him a sizeable income and with an ex-wife living in another state and no children to complicate his life, there was no alimony nor child support draining his wallet. His hair was a mature salt and pepper shade but his light brown eyes glowed with a deceptive youthful innocence and an impish smile which was highlighted only by his quaint Tennessee accent. At forty-five, he had the physique of a man half his age, thanks in part to his strenuous workouts at the local gym three times a week plus his much more pleasant weekend workout in the bedrooms of his many attractive female friends.
