It was a very hot and sticky Friday in July, as Edward Davenport sat in his comfortable leather chair in his study, reading the Financial Times, pondering over the stock market reports and investment fund performances, looking for somewhere new to invest his more than modest fortune. The windows were open, but it was a stuffy day and there was no breeze coming through his study and he was very sticky from the heat. He was it seemed glued into his chair.

Then the noise began, the sound of the tractor lawn mower buzzing up and down the lawn was annoying him and disturbing his peace. Edward sighed and his mind wandered pondering his life so far.

Having a huge garden Edward didn't have the time to mow the grass or tend to the flowerbeds or had in truth, had no interest or inclination to do so, he hated manual work of any kind, and was grateful that he could pay someone else to do it.

Edward who was now 42 and was the son and heir of a very rich mother and father, however, he was the last of the Davenport's in his lineage and had no real close family left. Due to complications with his birth his mother died during child birth and his father had never remarried. Edward was then left to be raised by his very pompous father.
