Cassius lay back on the bed pillows with his eyes closed as he thought about the fantastic events of the past month. Up until a few weeks ago, he was just a gladiator, and even though he was the hero of Rome and the favorite of the emperor, he was still no more than a slave. His mind reeled at the thought of the emperor commanding him to appear before him at the palace right after his superb demonstration of cunning, agility and strength in outlasting all his opponents to become Champion of Rome at the recent Emperor's Games.

When the emperor, Tiberius, proclaimed him a free man and bestowed upon him great wealth in addition to a mansion of his own, he couldn't believe his ears and just stood before him with a stunned expression on his face. He moved into the mansion the next day and found that Tiberius had fully staffed it and furnished it so all he had to do was move his personal belongings in and he was all set. For the last three weeks, he had been enjoying the good life and starting to wonder what the emperor had in store for him since this high living had to be earned in some way. He found out this morning, when he was summoned to the palace.

Tiberius told him that he and his wife Clodia would like him to join them for dinner tonight and then stay over with them until morning. Cassius thought about the coming night and was getting fairly aroused as he thought about the gorgeous Clodia since he had always fantasized about her. Tiberius was another thing.
