Alice was awakened by someone knocking on Larry's bedroom door and then his mother's voice. "Larry are you awake? You need to get up or we'll be late for church." Alice was terrified and started to shake Larry but he rose up. "Mom I was out really late last night. I'm going to stay home." They both heard the sigh of disappointment. "You know how it upsets your grandmother if we don't all go to church together." "Give me a break ok. I'm going back to sleep." As soon as the footsteps had vanished down the stairs Alice said, "Oh man I was so scared she was coming in." Larry told her to speak quietly. "Nobody comes in my room without knocking and asking first. Damn why is it such a big deal for the Hugh Fletcher family to be seen together walking to church?" "I've got to pee before I float away" Alice said. Larry told her to be as quiet as she could. She tip toed to the bathroom in Larry's room. Her bladder must have been full to the brim as the splashing was loud but she didn't care. Alice smiled thinking that she and Larry were like an old married couple. She washed her hands and looked in the mirror and was shocked at terrible she looked. Her hair was a mess and her face looked pale. Her body felt filthy and she really would like to sink down in a hot bath.
