The Last Pharaoh 12 By Will Buster

1246 B. C. E.

Nikare watched in admiration and fear. They'd just crossed the Red Sea on a narrow strip of sand and the tide was beginning to return. Before him, pharaoh's chariots were advancing in a narrow column. Hanna was gripping his hand. She was obviously more afraid than he was.

"They'll kill us all!" She practically screamed her fear in his ear. Around them the former Hebrew slaves were yelling. Some were even threatening Moses for having delivered them into the hand of pharaoh to destroy them.

Nikare knew their military position was nearly hopeless if those chariots got passed the soft sand and gained the harder ground on their side of the Sea. The salt water soaked sand was slowing down the chariots to almost a walking pace. The horses strained to pull the heavy weight as the wheels began to sink lower into the gritty mess. Yet they still advanced, these warriors that had never tasted defeat.

Nikare held Hannah right against him. "About fifty well trained archers could make short work of them. The soft sand is slowing them down."
