CABIN FEVER

We worked for the same company but at different ends of the country. Eighteen months ago Jim had taken a promotion and had moved as far away from me as he could. He had told me he hadn't been able to work so near to me and not be able to get close to me. We had developed a very strong emotional bond though despite the distance separating us. Our emails at work were thoroughly professional. But the one's we sent from home had changed from casual friendship to a deep emotional level; if anyone asked I told them he was my best friend.

I had shared with Jim every detail I could remember of my attack and the fears and nightmares that plagued me because of it. Only with Jim had I been able to open up. I remembered the hugs and teasing, the corny jokes and the silent strength he brought to me. He had been there for me when "the jerk" had broken off our engagement. He had held me and let me cry.
