I decided on a random Sunday to head to a nearby Metro Park for a quick hike. My workout routine had grown a bit dull, just walking around a track they have set around a pond at my apartment complex had grown boring, and it was a beautiful day. Beautiful blue skies, everything was new and green from the recent emergence of Spring.

I hadn't been to a trail on my own for a long time, and I'd never been to this particular park, so I had to grab one of those maps they supply at the lodge thingy and figured out where the 2 mile trail was. I ended up having to drive to another parking lot to get closer to the Trail. I know, I know, why go if you're not willing to walk to the trail you want to go to? Anyway, I got away from all the families out for picnicking by moving to that other parking lot, and walked to the trail closest and hopped on, so to speak.

There were a few people along the creek fishing, and I crossed path with a woman who made no eye contact with me, which told me she really wanted to be alone. I found the 2 mile trail and started on it. It's a "nature trail," which basically told me there weren't many bells and whistles to it, and there wouldn't be many people on it. It'd been so long since I'd been on a hiking trail by myself that I was somewhat bothered by the quiet. At one point, a bird close to the trail was startled to flight as I walked past, and believe me, he startled me as much as he was startled.
