Prom Story - part 1

This starts out really slow. There's not a lot of sex in it, but it is a story I've been banging around in my head for a while and I wanted to write it.

Spring.

My name's Jack, I have an MBA and I've run a few small but pretty successful businesses. I've just turned 30 years old and have made a decent amount of money so far. Getting a little tired of apartment living in the city, I decided to buy a small house in the suburbs. It's quieter there, plus real estate is a good investment. The house I bought is on a quarter acre of land. There aren't too many fences in the neighborhood - none on either side of me or behind me. This makes it easier to be neighborly, I guess.

The day after I moved in, I met my first neighbors. I was out mowing my lawn, which had become overgrown, when my neighbor behind me came over with a fresh baked blueberry pie. I like this neighborhood, already. My neighbor's name was Karen. I figured her to be about 40. She was a single mom. Her daughter, Daphne, was 17 and a junior at the local high school. Her husband had never smoked a day in his life. Nobody knows why he got lung cancer. He died when Daphne was 6. Thank goodness he had a good life insurance policy (must have got it before ...
