Weekend Bachelor Pad Chapter 4

I woke the next morning to the smell of bacon and coffee. I went downstairs and found Derek in the kitchen, setting the table for both of us. He said good morning sleepy head, and that he thought I'd like some breakfast before I took off on my trip. I smiled and said thanks. We ate breakfast together and I told him I needed him to do a few tasks for me over the weekend. He agreed to mow the yard, and do the trimming, and would even sweep out the pool, if it needed it. He gave me a crooked smile when saying the last part about the pool, followed by a wicked grin.

I told him he was too good to me, and he laughed and made a comment about me being the one too good to him, for letting him use my place while I was out of town. I went back upstairs after breakfast and finished packing, then headed for the airport, after spending some time with my dogs. Derek told me not to worry about a thing, he would hold down the fort, and make sure it didn't get burnt to the ground or anything. I smiled and told him I appreciated that, gave him a hug, and then went out the door.

When I arrived at the airport I checked in for my flight, to find it had been delayed due to a storm in Chicago. I've never understood the purpose of delaying a flight that is not passing through or laying over in Chicago, but I guess that's just how things work, in the airline ...
