"What are you still doing here?" Jeff asked when he saw me sitting on the curb outside the bar.

"Just waiting for a cab. They said it'd be an hour and a half."

"That's crazy. I'll give you a ride."

"You don't have to do that."

"Nonsense. I insist."

"Okay. Do you need any help with the equipment?" I stood up.

"No, this is the end of it, but thanks. I'm parked over here." He motioned to the side of the building.

"Lead the way." I followed him to his car; he opened the door for me and I sat in the passenger's seat. He loaded his trumpet into the trunk, got in and started the car. The radio blared a song from the 50's. That's awesome, I thought.

"Sorry about that." He turned down the radio, but didn't change the song.

"Don't be. I love this song." ...
