I was setting plates down for dinner when Brenda walked into the house, slamming the door. Then she slammed a textbook on the kitchen table. "I'm flunking Calculus."

I grabbed a water glass before it fell over. "Calculus?"

"I need it to graduate. I kept putting it off for as long as I could. I was hoping they'd change the requirement or something." She sat down, looking frustrated.
