THE CABIN

This past winter, I drove to my friend, Julie's mountain cabin at Susanp Creek Lake for a weekend holiday. I didn't realize until I arrived that she had also invited our mutual friend, Susan. The quartet greeted me with hugs, kisses and "Welcome, Tara." Then they told me my bedroom was in the living room on the sofa bed in front of the fireplace.

On the second day, everyone but Susan and I took off early for an overnight cross-country skiing expedition. That evening, we were clutching mugs of hot chocolate when Susan yawned, "I didn't get much sleep last night."

I burst out laughing! "I had your room at Thanksgiving. Was it the squeaking bedsprings that kept you awake? Or the loud chorus of oohs, aahs and grunts coming through the thin walls from Julie's bedroom?" Susan laughed with me and admitted that although she had heard lots of lovemaking next door, it was the uncomfortable bed that kept her awake.

I think we both felt sparks of sexual energy whenever we got together, so it was not at all strange when I asked her, "Well, why not join me under a comforter on the sofa bed in front of the fire, where it's quiet and warm?"
