Confessions Of A Part-Time Model Part 2

My first venture into modeling was a couple of years ago. I was invited to attend the opening of a gallery exhibit of lifecast sculptures created by a friend of a friend. It was quite exciting yet somewhat intimidating for me as this was the first time I had ever attended a function of that nature and it was painfully obvious that I felt out of place.

The exhibit was magnificent and the method in which they were displayed, each piece mounted on a black background with high key lighting only accentuated the experience. I was amazed at how the artist was able to capture the tiniest details of his subjects. The minute creases of the knuckles and fingernails were clearly visible in contrast to the smoothness of the skin, like polished marble set against the dark of night. I was drawn to one piece in particular. It was a torso lifecast of a young woman the same approximate size and shape of myself. I was admiring the craftsmanship of this piece when a scruffy man in jeans and a teeshirt approached and offered me a glass of wine. He introduced himself as Gary, the artist responsible for the show. I told him how much I enjoyed his work. He smiled and thanked me for my praise. His casual manner put me at ease and I sipped my wine as he thoroughly explained the process of lifecasting to me. At the end of his discourse, he invited me to pose for a cast.
