Growing up my mom had tried to instill in me the idea that D&D was satanic. Her ideas were lost on me, but as far as I know, she never knew.

My understanding of D&D yeided a fun night, in which the initials evenutally became DND... as in, Do Not Disturb.

It was mid-December, and I had stopped by a friend's house before heading home from work. It had been a crappy day at the portrait studio, complete with getting puked on by some random kid. Luckily, I had some extra clothes with me. I knew I didn't meet the "dress code" for work, wearing my jeans and black t-shirt that said "my inner child needs a spanking" but was better than the alternative.

I parked my car on the corner, walked up the sidewalk stairs in front, and went right in since the door was never locked. No one was around in the house, but the smell of coffee and coats scattered about was evidence of a group of people being there. I walked through the house, figuring they had to be in the garage. I had to keep hope that someone would be around who could cheer me up and make my day better.
