The Young Concierge

Chris has spent a hard day running around the hotel, helping bossy and ungrateful guests. It was the end of his first week on the job, and he was glad it was over--though a very classy hotel, Chris dealt with the worst jobs as the junior man in the concierge staff. He was asked into his boss's office for a quick chat before leaving--the Concierge was happy with Chris, indeed seemed to like him, and offered him some tips on how to get ahead in the hotel business, how to get more tips. The concierge figured Chris had a bright, and lucrative, future in the hotel business. While he was going on about the art of being a concierge, the phone rang, and he answered it on speaker phone. "Concierge" he said.

"Concierge? Excellent!? This is Miss Nicola. I have no towels in here, the bathroom has not been cleaned, its late and I want a shower. Ridiculous in a hotel of this cost and quality. Send some up immediately." She hung up without waiting for a reply. It was a rebuke and a command, not a request.

The concierge looked at the silent phone and sighed. Raising his glance to Chris, he said "Chris, please, I know its late but could you please grab some of the thick VIP towels and bring them up to that witch? Go ...
