As promised, Kyle arrived at my house promptly at 7pm. I'd been puttering around my flower beds while I was waiting for him. I was a bit surprised at how excited I felt when he parked his Jeep and hopped out. I was sure my heart had skipped a beat.

"Hi Anna!" Kyle smiled as he walked up the gravel driveway toward where I was standing in the yard. He was the picture of summer in his backwards baseball cap, sunglasses, faded blue buttondown shirt with the long sleeves rolled up and his obligatory khaki cargo shorts.

"Hi yourself!" I grinned. When he got close enough, I took his hands, pulled him close and kissed him. "So where are you taking me?"

"Well, I thought we'd get something to eat and maybe take a walk on the beach after. You said you wanted to talk, so does that work for you?" Kyle asked. "Are you hungry?"

"I am hungry." I said as I picked up my sweater and purse off of a lawn chair. "And yes, that does work for me."

"Great! Let's go." Kyle took my hand and led me over to his Jeep. "You look very nice tonight, Anna."
