Gluttony: Commonly defined as excessive eating, but historically has also been defined as eating very expensive food. It is considered sinful not only because it is seen as lack of self-control, but also because of taking excess for oneself while those in need suffer. Manella's was the most expensive restaurant in town, but well worth it in Valerie's mind. The lobster and shrimp scampi were perfect, and Dale's steak looked so good it made her regret having sworn off beef.
