Chapter 1

My name's Richard and I'm a detective sergeant in the police force working out of Millgarth Police Headquarters in Leeds. I have a girlfriend called Amber. In this part of the country 'lambing' someone is short for bare fist fighting and it's also thought humorous to call a thug like Larry a lamb.

On the street, I've known Larry for years. He was at the back of the queue when they handed brains out and his temper is short such that I reckon he likes to get off on violence. But he's a real ladies man ...
