After eating Alice reappeared a while later, grabbed the plate and utensils, and retreated after giving me a decidedly deep kiss that curled my toes. I thought I might sleep then but a bit later I could hear the muffled striations of Captain Midnight and the Ovaltine commercials drifting up from the downstairs radio.

Tomorrow, I decided. Tomorrow this investigation would begin in earnest.
