Part 7 Stardog Champion

Feeling like a stranger in his own home as he watched with numb fascination and dread, the two boys downstairs take full advantage of his wife, Carl suddenly became disoriented, losing his balance and falling against the wall to his left.

In his haste to gather himself, Carl spread out his arms and legs and smacked awkwardly into the wall, causing the sound that had startled Jahon and Kelly, in the basement.

Sensing he had spooked them, Carl clumsily tiptoed away from the basement door, charging for the hall closet to hide, just in case the two intruders downstairs decided to come up and investigate.

Before he could reach the safety of the closet however, Carl was stopped cold in his tracks by the sound of the basement door downstairs slamming shut.

"They're gone," Carl whispered to himself as if he didn't believe it.
