Lara's Story

Gena sat in her patrol car about halfway down the mountain at the side of the four lane highway hidden yet not completely hidden from the speeders that she was hoping to get to slow down when they saw her patrol car. She had her laptop between her and the steering wheel trying to catch up on her paperwork.

She had been with the Sheriff's Department for a little over ten years now. She had always wanted to be a cop and as soon as she got out of high school, she went to the local community college which had a great law enforcement department. She got her associate's degree and applied to the sheriff's department in the small rural county that she had grown up at the orphanage that served several of the surrounding counties. The sheriff at the time didn't believe in women serving as deputies but then he was being pressured to hire one and so Gena got the job. She, of course, got all the shit details until the old foggy of a sheriff finally was forced to retire, two years after Gena got hired, and most of the other deputies who were also getting old retired with him.
