Elena in Florence

Tovar looked over photographs and drawings in front of the open window overlooking one of the piazzas of Florence. The breeze was cool and the day dominated by brilliant sunshine. He sipped his morning coffee and tightened his robe. Elena's work would have to improve before he featured her in the museum. Not that she wasn't extremely talented, that wasn't a question, but he couldn't look like he was doing a favor to a lover - so her work had to be exceptional. Obviously she was highly regarded in the art world, and deservedly so, but this was The Uffizi. She had to earn this.

"You can do much better than this." He said, turning to look at his young lover on the couch. Elena shrugged, saying nothing, hugging her knees against her chest. She wore a white tank top and her perpetual black ACDC pajama pants, her hair a morning wild mop. "You don't capture the essence of the fruit market in the photo and the sketch of the girl is lifeless."

"The model sucked," Elena whined. "She kept complaining and saying she had another appointment."

"Good artists do not blame the model, Sweetness."
