It was about a year since I'd last had sex with Mariah and our affair seemed more like the memory from a great movie or a distant dream perhaps, that never really leaves you and always seems just out of reach. There had been the occasional close call, such as Mariah or her parents chatting with my wife and I at a neighborhood function and something was said that made me wonder if the little minx had finally spilled the beans about our tryst. However time and again it was unfounded, more likely guilt trying to rear its ugly head and make me paranoid.
