When Julie and Sandra were sent down for four years in a minimum-security prison, their crimes being not so good cat burglars (Sandra's preference being safe cracking while Julie favoured jewellery, and the occasional diamond), you kind of knew they would end up in the same cell, together.

Now some 18 months in, Sandra, the elder of the two women by three years and conceivably, by her standards, the brains of the pair, had worked out a plan, whereby they could slip away, undetected; even while wearing their orange prison fatigues.

"Are you sure it will work?" Julie asked for the third time.

"Trust me, okay, I've got it all worked out, right down to the last detail," she assured her cell-room mate. Sandra and planning, the lack of which is what landed her in prison 18 months ago.

She was on her third safe cracking job, a cool $20k on the other side, but, she overlooked the sensor below the carpet under the safe; the security patrol arrived just as she got it open, her expression going from elation to one of despair in mille-seconds.
