The Negotiated Settlement is Delivered

I snatched the receiver from the stand, leaned back in my swivel chair, hit "Return Call' and waited as the phone rang on the other end. The answer I received was the standard, 'This call is being recorded, blah, blah, blah. I hit O; it rang once and was immediately answered. I didn't give the young lady time to deliver her spiel as I quickly said, "Mitch Dupuis returning a call from Courtney Culligan. I assume she's still in her office." I was transferred with no additional comment from the receptionist. I must have pissed her off when I didn't let her finish her answer. Courtney answered on the first ring and said, "Mr. Dupuis. Thank you for returning my call before the day end."

"I expect good news and I always respond to calls that may have such news. Should I celebrate or should I cry, Ms. Culligan?"

"On your end, you can celebrate, however on this end, tears are still flowing. I am calling to arrange a time to deliver the formal agreement to the crew demands of your earlier letter. If you could give me a time and your office address I will do it today so that work on the project can proceed."

"My office is uptown at the corner of Merriman and Hall, Suite 1211, and seven this evening would be acceptable if it fits your schedule. I'll leave word with the Guard that you are expected." ...
