It was here. The night I'd been looking forward to all weekend. Not that I wasn't always excited about Sunday dinners at the local Thai restaurant, but this night was special.

Thursday I had gotten an invite out to drinks with a good friend's ex-girlfriend. Weird sentence, right? Well, Laurie and I had started developing a friendship while she was still dating Mark. What started because we both liked my friend only grew stronger as we discussed our love for Robert Downey, Jr. and proper grammar. Soon we were texting routinely and poking each other on Facebook. The friendship was tenuous, but seemed to be growing. When she and Mark broke up, I didn't know what to do. Mark was - and is - one of my best friends, but here is his (now) ex-girlfriend who I had developed a friendship with. I didn't know where my loyalties should be lying.

I got a chance to talk to him about it the same day she invited me out for drinks. He said it was fine if I wanted to be friends with her. His reasons for breaking up with her had more to do with her wanting to sleep with his friends and drink all the time than any vendetta or serious character flaw. She was younger than us. Who hasn't been at a point in their lives where they want to sleep with their significant other's friends and drink all the time?

That put the kernel of an idea in my head though. What if I was one of those friends she wanted to sleep with? I know I'm not the most ...
