I was straightening up some things in my classroom at the end of a workday when one of my fellow coworkers stopped in to talk to me. She was reminding me about the upcoming teachers conventions that were taking place in Atlantic City in a couple of weeks. A bunch of the teachers from my job were heading down together and had decided to rent a bunch of hotel rooms right on the boardwalk. She wanted to know if I was interested in joining them. I told her to give me a few days to think about it and that I would get back to her. I usually didn't go to the conventions and ended up using the days off from work and sitting around the house. This year however, I could use a couple of days away since we hadn't gone on vacation over the summer. I finished up what I was doing and was soon on my way home.

As I was making dinner, my husband walked in from work and I greeted him like usual. He went to wash up as I set up the table for dinner. We both sat down and enjoyed our dinner and chatted about the days events. I bought up the topic of the convention and told him what the plan was at work. I mentioned that I wouldn't mind taking a couple days down there on the beach. He immediately told me that he had no time off of work and wouldn't be able to go. I was a bit disappointed and a bit mad at the same time because he never had any time off. He could see that I was disappointed and suggested that I go with my coworkers and enjoy myself. I pondered the idea and told him that I would think about it.
